Richard Rees is President of Scanology, a fast growing, full spectrum, auto ID solutions provider company based in Boxmeer, The Netherlands and with strategic supplier and distribution partners across the world. Richard was recently described in a German Stock Exchange press release as an old fox of the auto ID industry. He has practical experience of Supply Chain Management within the European FMCG sector and has worked at senior levels in Production, Packaging Design, Procurement and Logistics. During a 25-year career in the European Brewing industry, Richard successfully led a sequence of industry data exchange initiatives leading to the development of the Multi Industry Transport Label standard and the specification of the EAN returnable assets AIs. Mr. Rees is Chairman of the British Standards Institute Technical Committee IST34, Auto Identification Techniques, and leads the UK delegations to the equivalent European and International bodies CEN TC225 and ISO/IEC JTCI SC31. He has played an active management role in the development of ISO RFID standards and is working successfully to achieve congruence between the ISO and EPC approaches. Richard served a 12-year term as a member of the EAN UK supervisory board and has a deep commitment to educating the Logistics community in the opportunities presented by emerging Auto ID technologies together with the need to promote compatibility between these technologies and existing legacy systems through the use of open data content standards and open protocols for interoperable RFID and AIDC systems.
